2nd German Parliamentary Delegation in JLSS
A German Parliamentary Delegation visiting Lebanon and Jordan, from the 11th
to the 18th of April 2012, visited our school on Sunday the 15th. The
delegation was on a political trip to Jordan and Lebanon to get first
hand information on the human rights situation. This is the second
German Parliamentary Delegation to visit our school this year.

The
delegation was escorted by the First Secretary, Head of Culture,
Press, and Protocol Sections of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of
Germany in Beirut, Sebastian Damm.
It consisted of:
Ute Granold, MdB (CDU/CSU),
head of the delegation;
Michael Brand, MdB (12.-18.4.12) (CDU/CSU)
Frank Heinrich, MdB (CDU/CSU)
Wolfgang Gunkel, MdB (SPD)
Pascal Kober, MdB (FDP)
Serkan Tören, MdB (FDP)
Annette Groth, MdB (DIE LINKE)

The
delegation arrived to Schneller School at 11.30 AM.
They were welcomed by the director, Rev. George D. Haddad, with whom the
delegation met to hear about Schneller School, its mission to needy
children through partnership and support from Germany,
its challenges and future plans, and the situation in Lebanon. They
later walked around the school and saw the wonderful JLSS campus and its
various buildings, departments, workshops, and facilities.
The delegation was invited for lunch with the director, and all enjoyed
delicious Lebanese food prepared by the JLSS kitchen staff. The
delegation left JLSS after lunch to visit Baalbek.

We thank the head of the delegation, all its
members, and the First Secretary of the German Embassy in Beirut for
their wonderful visit. We express to them our most sincere gratitude to the
German people and churches for our common mission to needy children,
our partnership, and the wonderful support we receive from Germany
without which we would not be able to fulfill and develop our mission to
needy children.
