Christmas Celebrations 2008

Christmas is a very special time at JLSS. Children wait for it with great expectation. There was plenty of preparations during December this year, and it all culminated in the last two days of school before the Christmas holiday.
The academic school had a wonderful program which was performed twice in order to allow all students to attend it. It was held in Herman Schneller Hall on 22 and 23 December, and it included music, carols, a bible reading, and Christmas plays. Arabic, English and German recitations and carols were included, and students performed their roles very well and with great joy.
There was also a very nice program prepared by the kindergarten classes, and children also performed well with great enthusiasm.
Many teachers celebrated in some special ways with their students in their respective classes.
The boarding department started its celebration in the evening on Monday 22 December with a service of Lessons and Carols which was held at six o'clock in St. Michael's Church. It was a very nice service greatly enriched by four musicians: Liesl Yzelle playing the guitar, Jakob Rosenow playing the violin, Joseph Sleilati playing the clarinet, and Rev. George Haddad playing the piano.
The service was followed with a Christmas dinner. All teachers and members of staff with their families were invited, and many came and enjoyed the evening with our students and children.
The climax of the evening was the arrival of Santa Claus who distributed the Christmas presents. Our two German volunteers, Jakob and Uli, were our Santas this year, and they managed to distribute the presents to all the boarding families in record time.
The Christmas presents were sponsored by BibleLands and an anonymous donor. We express our sincere gratitude to BibleLands and the other donor for enabling us to get wonderful gifts to all our students.
We also thank all our students, teachers, and members of staff who prepared the wonderful programs. They brought joy and great blessings to JLSS and made our Christmas a very special time indeed.
