Graduation for Single Mothers 2015

Single Mothers 2015The Single Mothers' Program 2015 which was started on Monday 13 April came to a very nice conclusion on Tuesday 1 September 2015. A special celebration was held for all the participants during which they received their certificates and a bag of hairdressing items that will enable them to practice the skills they acquired to earn a living.
We were not able to hold the celebration mid-July when the hairdressing course ended because we only managed to buy the hairdressing items when it was time for the staff summer-holiday.
Upon our return we informed the women of the date and time of the celebration, and we sent the bus to collect them from the camp.
Single Mothers 2015Attending were all JLSS heads of departments.
The director congratulated the twelve women who completed the course, thanked Mrs. Dareen Daoud who trained the women, and expressed his sincere gratitude to our German Partners EMS for funding this very important project.
One of the women representing the group thanked Mrs. Dareen Daoud, Schneller School, and EMS with very touching words of gratitude. She explained how important the course was for all the women, and how much they all valued the help they received during the program.
They all then joined hands with Mrs. Dareen Daoud to cut the cake which was especially prepared for theSingle Mothers 2015 occasion by our wonderful kitchen staff.
A delightful time of interaction and taking photos followed. The star of the occasion was Bana, the tiny daughter of one of the women who was with her all the time during the course. We made a special exception for her because she was a few months old. We allowed her mother to have her with her in the hairdressing center instead of keeping her with the other children in the Kindergarten Center.
She had grown quite a lot during the course, and she was the main attraction of the occasion.
Smiles and tears of joy mixed with sorrow were on all the faces of the women as they realized that this was the end Single Mothers 2015of the course. They all asked to join future courses, but we explained that we have to allow other needy single mothers to benefit from future courses.
We wished them well hoping that they will be able to use the skills they acquired to earn a living and support themselves and their children.
We express our sincere gratitude to EMS for providing us with the funds to run this wonderful program. We also thank the Schneller local board for supporting this small but life-transforming course.
